Sweet California
The second single from my new album Blue on Blue is called “Sweet California”. I wrote it while sitting on the back patio of a friend’s house in an hour’s drive from San Francisco, gazing out at the mountain and the trees.
“Riding into the sunset/Like a cowboy movie hero/Dust in the air shines gold in the sun/ Birds fly wings stir up the blue.”
This was another of the new songs I wrote post-injury. It’s both about coming home and moving on – I think that working with Leonard Cohen all that time taught me that it’s possible to have two opposing ideas in your head at the same time! The video was made by Matej Kolmanko, an artist and filmmaker in Slovenia. We met via facebook after I fell in love with a video he made for one of my musician friends.
Here’s a link to the video on Popmatters, com who premiered it. There’s a review and an interview with me there too.
Thanks for listening. Hope you like it.
