Done! and Done!
My new album is finally done! All that's left to do is design the cover art, write the liner notes - and come up with a title. There's 11 new songs, one of them a duet with Howe Gelb, who produced the album. Playing on it are me, Howe, Thoger Lund and Gabriel Sullivan from Giant Sand, Brian Lopez and Jim White (of Wrong-Eyed Jesus fame). Right now I'm sending it off to record companies, trying to find the right label to release it on. I loved being with Light In The Attic Records, but since my last album, Sylvie, they decided to release only reissues.Another thing that's finally done is the book I've been writing with Debbie Harry. It's her memoir, Face It, and it's due out in October. It was a very different project and a very, very different experience from writing Leonard Cohen's biography - I won't be going on the road with my ukulele singing any Blondie songs. Debbie will be promoting it, accompanied by her Blondie partner Chris Stein and her designer friend Rob Roth, with a series of onstage conversations. Also coming soon are several new translated editions coming up soon of I'm Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen. I'll post details on those later. Meanwhile, wish me luck with the record deal. I can't wait for everyone to hear it! Thanks.
